Which versions of GTA 3 do these cheats work on?

Quick guide
  • PC: type the code during play. The original 2002 game and the Definitive Edition use the same words, except the armor cheat (TURTOISE in the original, TORTOISE in the Definitive Edition).
  • PlayStation: PS2, PS3, the PS4 version from 2015 and the Definitive Edition on PS4 and PS5 use the same button combos.
  • Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S (Definitive Edition): shown by default under Xbox.
  • Original Xbox (2003): choose it under Older consoles.
  • Big Head Mode is new in the Definitive Edition, and Invisible Cars was removed from it.

How to enter GTA 3 cheats

On PC

  1. Play normally (not in the pause menu).
  2. Type the code on your keyboard, for example GUNSGUNSGUNS. There is no box to type into.
  3. A message confirms the cheat at the top of the screen.

On PlayStation and Xbox

  1. Enter the code during gameplay.
  2. Use the D-pad for the arrows and press the buttons quickly.
  3. A Cheat activated message appears when it worked.

Important warnings before you use cheats

  • Pedestrian cheats cannot be switched off. Pedestrians Riot, Pedestrians Attack You and Pedestrians Have Weapons stay on. Do not save after using them.
  • Save first so you always have a clean save to go back to.
  • Achievements and trophies: in the Definitive Edition, using any cheat disables them for that save file.
  • Wanted level: the Raise Wanted Level cheat adds two stars at a time.

GTA 3 cheats: frequently asked questions

What is the money cheat in GTA 3?

Type IFIWEREARICHMAN on PC, or press R2, R2, L1, L1, Left, Down, Right, Up, Left, Down, Right, Up on PlayStation (RT, RT, LB, LB and the same arrows on Xbox One and Series X/S). You get $250,000.

How do I get a tank in GTA 3?

Type GIVEUSATANK on PC, or press Circle six times, then R1, L2, L1, Triangle, Circle, Triangle on PlayStation. A Rhino tank appears in front of you.

Do GTA 3 cheats work on PS5?

Yes. The Definitive Edition on PS4 and PS5 uses the same button combos as the PS2 original. Only Invisible Cars was removed.

Can I turn GTA 3 cheats off?

Weather, handling, flying cars and game speed cheats switch off when you enter them again. The three pedestrian cheats cannot be switched off, so reload an earlier save.

Why is my GTA 3 cheat not working?

Make sure you use the D-pad, press the buttons quickly and enter the code during gameplay. Also check the label on the cheat: Invisible Cars only works in the original game.

GTA 3 started the 3D era of the series, and its cheats are still fun today. See the library above for cheats from GTA 6, GTA 5, GTA 4, GTA San Andreas and GTA Vice City.
